KUALA LUMPUR, 2 September 2026 – IICM Berhad has announced its new Board of Directors and Advisory Council Members for the 2026–2028 term following its 1st Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today in Kuala Lumpur.
The AGM marks an important milestone for IICM Berhad as the organisation enters its next phase of development with a strengthened governance structure comprising a five-member Board of Directors and a ten-member Advisory Council.
Dato’ Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah, representing Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP], has been elected as the Chairman of IICM Berhad. He will be supported by Datuk Wira Ismitz Matthew De Alwis, representing Kenanga Investors Berhad, as Vice Chairman, and Datin Nor Hanifah Hashim, representing Franklin Templeton Asset Management (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, as Treasurer. The two other board members will comprise Puan Munirah Khairuddin, representing Principal Asset Management Berhad, and Puan Hanizan Hood, representing Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
The AGM also elected ten Advisory Council Members for the 2026–2028 term, comprising representatives from leading institutional investors and industry participants. The Advisory Council will provide industry perspectives, strategic input and guidance to support the Board and advance IICM Berhad’s mandate.
Strengthening Investor Stewardship and Long-Term Value Creation
The newly constituted leadership will steer IICM Berhad’s efforts to promote effective investor stewardship and higher corporate governance standards, while representing the collective interests of institutional investors and advancing the Malaysian Code for Institutional Investors (MCII).
In his acceptance speech, Dato’ Jay Khairil Jeremy Abdullah said that institutional investors have a responsibility that extends beyond financial performance.
“The duty upon us is not just on financial returns. It is also how we could deploy capital in the most responsible way, making sure of resiliency in the economy and also a nation-building perspective.”
Dato’ Jay also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration with the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia, including through initiatives such as MY Value Up, which supports stronger corporate strategy, investor engagement and long-term value creation.
IICM Berhad advocates for institutional investors to play an active and responsible role as stewards of the companies in which they invest. Through effective stewardship, strong corporate governance and responsible investment practices, IICM Berhad seeks to empower institutional investors to drive responsible, long-term value creation and contribute towards a stronger and more resilient Malaysian capital market.
As an industry-led organisation, IICM Berhad will continue to provide a platform for institutional investors to engage, collaborate and collectively address issues affecting the Malaysian capital market.

ABOUT IICM BERHAD
IICM Berhad was originally established as the Institutional Investors Council Malaysia (IIC) on 3 July 2015, following the launch of the Malaysian Code for Institutional Investors (MCII) on 27 June 2014. IIC was subsequently registered as an association with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) under the Societies Act 1966 on 29 December 2017.
IIC was envisioned to play a crucial role in representing the common interests of institutional investors in Malaysia. As an industry-led initiative, IIC serves as a platform to shape and strengthen corporate governance culture, including through the effective adoption of the MCII. Its establishment was also aligned with the recommendations of the Corporate Governance Blueprint 2011, launched by the Securities Commission Malaysia in July 2011.
To further strengthen its governance framework, accountability, and operational effectiveness, IIC transitioned to a new legal entity, IICM Berhad, a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLBG), registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) under the Companies Act 2016 on 2 May 2025. This transition marked an important milestone in the institutionalisation of IIC’s role within Malaysia’s capital market ecosystem.
As a CLBG, IICM Berhad operates on a non-profit and non-distributing basis, with no share capital and no dividends payable to its members. This structure reinforces its public-interest mandate and provides a more robust platform to support long-term stewardship, transparency, and sound governance practices.
The transition from IIC to IICM Berhad represents a change in legal form and name only. The core mandate, purpose, and advocacy of IIC remain unchanged. IICM Berhad continues to serve as the collective voice of institutional investors in Malaysia, promoting high standards of corporate governance, responsible stewardship, and sustainable long-term value creation.
All existing members of IIC continue their membership under IICM Berhad, ensuring continuity in representation, engagement, and commitments undertaken since IIC’s establishment.
